A massive fire tore through a northeast Dallas apartment complex overnight Sunday, leaving more than 20 units heavily damaged or destroyed.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the Stratford at Midtown Apartments, located at 6749 Larmanda St., around 12:30 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered intense flames engulfing a two-story building, with the fire rapidly spreading into the attic. Due to the severity of the blaze, crews escalated their efforts to a second alarm and transitioned from an offensive attack to a defensive strategy.
During the battle to contain the fire, a large section of the building collapsed, further complicating firefighting efforts, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Authorities estimate that approximately 20 units sustained severe damage or were completely destroyed. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have yet to confirm the exact number of displaced residents or the total number of affected units.
