Older Man Hospitalized After Fire in Southern Dallas

DALLAS — An elderly man was hospitalized after a house fire in southern Dallas on Sunday afternoon, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue officials.

Firefighters responded to a call about the blaze in the 3900 block of Fortune Lane around 2:36 p.m. DFR officials reported that crews were informed someone was inside the single-story home.

Firefighters quickly deployed attack lines to locate and rescue the person. They found the elderly man inside and safely pulled him out. He was taken to the hospital with burn injuries and smoke inhalation, though his current condition is unknown.

The fire was officially extinguished at 2:56 p.m., and DFR is investigating the cause. No other injuries were reported.
