Donald Trump will officially begin his second term as President of the United States during the 60th Presidential Inauguration, scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025.
Event Schedule for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration
The Swearing-In Ceremony, the centerpiece of Inauguration Day, will take place at 12:00 p.m. on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol. Both President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will take their Oaths of Office, followed by the President’s inaugural address.
The day’s events begin early, with security screenings opening at 6:00 a.m. Musical performances will start around 9:30 a.m., leading to opening remarks at 11:30 a.m.. The traditional inaugural luncheon, a hallmark of the day, will follow the ceremony.
How to Secure Tickets for the Ceremony
Tickets to the Swearing-In Ceremony are free, but they are highly sought after and distributed in limited quantities. Each Member of Congress receives an allocation to distribute to their constituents.
If you’re interested in attending, contact your Senators or Representative as soon as possible to inquire about ticket availability.
Public Viewing Options
For those unable to secure tickets, public viewing areas along Pennsylvania Avenue offer an excellent opportunity to join the celebration. The inaugural parade, showcasing the presidential procession, will begin at 2:30 p.m. and make its way from the Capitol to the White House, starting near 3rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, close to the Canadian Embassy.
Limited bleacher seats along the parade route are available for reservation through the 60th Presidential Inaugural Committee.
Transportation and Travel Tips
Travelers attending the inauguration should plan ahead. Due to the large crowds and security measures:
- Driving is strongly discouraged, as road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect.
- Public transit is the recommended option, with Union Station being the closest Metro stop to the Capitol.
- Bus routes are expected to experience detours, so allow extra time for your commute.
