DALLAS – More than four decades after the crime, an 83-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of an elderly Dallas woman.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Willie Jones was arrested on Jan. 16 for a parole violation linked to a prior sexual assault conviction. While in custody, authorities obtained a DNA sample, which was later matched to evidence from a long-unsolved homicide.
The victim, 81-year-old Virginia White, was discovered dead in her home on Furey Street on Dec. 14, 1981. At the time of her death, Jones was 40 years old.
Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive or provided additional details regarding the circumstances of White’s murder.

Jones has been charged with capital murder and remains in the Dallas County Jail. As of now, a bond amount has not been set.
