FOREST HILL, Texas — Security footage leaked from Slappy’s Car Wash in Forest Hill shows Ronnie Sibley attempting to flee from his attackers. The video also reveals two suspects firing guns while Sibley’s 5-year-old daughter, R’Mani Sibley, is in the car. Both she and G$ Lil Ronnie, a popular 30-year-old Fort Worth rap artist, were tragically killed in the shooting on Monday morning.
The violence hits home for Melinda Hamilton, who has experienced similar heartache. She lost her 25-year-old daughter in 2017 and her 19-year-old grandson in 2020.
“This is why I founded Mothers of Murdered Angels,” Hamilton explained.
Hamilton established Mothers of Murdered Angels (MOMA), a nonprofit organization focused on fighting gun violence and advocating for the rights of victims and their families.
On Tuesday, Hamilton was among the many community leaders who spoke out against the shootings that resulted in the death of a Crowley ISD kindergartner, leaving a mother devastated by the loss of her child.
“We’re here to provide resources because they are in need right now,” Hamilton said.
In addition to her work with MOMA, Hamilton serves as the President of the Carver Heights East Neighborhood Association and the East Fort Worth Neighborhood Coalition. She is deeply involved in her community, offering support to families during times of crisis, including death, incarceration, and funeral arrangements.
According to Forest Hill PD, a preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects exited a white four-door Kia, approached Sibley’s car, and opened fire. Police described the suspects as two Black men wearing blue jeans and grey sweaters.
Hamilton, along with Fort Worth City Council Member Chris Nettles and Forest Hill Mayor Stephanie Boardingham, spoke at a news conference on Tuesday.
“We need to take a stand against gun violence. We will stop it now, and we will put our guns down because we cannot keep allowing this to happen,” Mayor Boardingham stated.
“This is not just a Forest Hill issue; this is a countywide, Fort Worth, and surrounding cities issue, and that’s why we’re here today,” Councilmember Nettles added.
Minister Dominique Alexander, president of the Next Generation Action Network, expressed his outrage over the father-daughter deaths, sending a direct message to the suspects.
“Another father gone, another child buried, and another family left to pick up the pieces. We say today, no more. It’s simple: turn yourselves in. Don’t drag this out,” Alexander urged.
As Forest Hill Police continue their search for the two suspects captured on camera, a spokesperson for the Sibley family shared a message on behalf of the victim’s family and the mother of the 5-year-old.
“On behalf of the mother, she urges the suspects to do the right thing and come forward. At the end of the day, there’s a mother somewhere demanding justice,” said Pastor Rodney McIntosh.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support the mother of Sibley’s 5-year-old daughter.
Forest Hill PD confirmed they have arrest warrants for the two suspects and are seeking information from anyone who may know something about the fatal shooting.
The investigation is being led by the Texas Rangers.
