A 31-year-old Uber driver who was previously arrested for child sex assault, and then later bonded out of jail, is still missing after cutting off his ankle monitor, according to law enforcement officials.

Robert Johnson was arrested on July 17, 2024 and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, officials said. He later posted $200,000 bond with conditions, which apparently included wearing an electronic leg monitor. In a Facebook post Thursday from the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, the department asked for the public’s help finding Johnson because he cut off the leg monitor and has been missing since Aug. 29, 2024, officials said.

The alleged sexual assault Johnson was accused of and arrested for happened on July 9, where police said he picked up a 12-year-old girl in Frisco and pulled over in the  in the 4200 block of Legacy Drive in Plano and sexually assaulted the child.

Uber officials in a statement to WFAA back in July said they were working with Plano police on the investigation.

“This monstrous behavior has no place in our society or on the Uber platform,” the Uber statement said. “We take reports of this nature very seriously and have permanently banned the driver. We have been in touch with the Plano Police Department regarding their investigation.”

Johnson is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 300 pounds. His frequent locations are Wylie, Garland and Dallas.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office said in its Facebook post that Johnson has family ties to Wylie, Dallas, Garland, and North Louisiana.
