DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) They are cute but may not be all they’re cracked up to be. A growing trend among new moms is the baby box. The concept was developed by two Dallas women, Jennifer Clary and Michelle Vick, who promote safe sleeping for babies, according to the Dallas Morning News. The baby box program educates parents about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, which sometimes occurs when babies suffocate while sleeping. The baby box is a simple alternative to a crib that allows baby to sleep next to mom and dad on the floor in their room. But the American Academy of Pediatrics says it’s not sure if the product actually helps with the risk of SIDS. Parents who take a free online course focused on safe sleep can get a certificate to pick up a free baby box.
