WACO (WBAP/KLIF News) A local reality TV star is responding to former friends of his who sued him. Chip Gaines and his wife Joanna rose to fame due to their popular HGTV show, “Fixer Upper” which is shot in Waco. Two former partners, John Lewis and Richard Clark, sued the Gaines’ accusing the couple of defrauding them out of their interest in the Magnolia Real Estate brand now featured on the show. An attorney for the Gaines’ says the claims are meritless and Chip Gaines tweeted a Bible verse seemingly in response to the suit, saying “The light shines in darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.”
