Over Memorial Day weekend my wife and I made the trip just north of the Oklahoma border to one of the Indian casinos in Oklahoma. In the packed parking lot I decided to conduct a quick experiment. Check the license plates on the first 20 vehicles we walked passed. 17 of them were from Texas.
That renewed an ongoing debate for many of us in the state one step to the south. Why no on site casino gambling here ??? It’s been proposed in the legislature a number of times but always rejected.
Lost local and state tax revenue, jobs and money to help a segment of the Texas population that always seems to be on the losing end of decisions, the Native American tribes. I think it’s finally time for a change.
