FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Castleberry Independent School District is investigating a teacher’s aide who allegedly made derogatory remarks about a transgender student.
16-year-old Ishy Valdez, who is transitioning from a boy to a girl, said he was confronted by a teacher’s aide after using the women’s restroom on the Tarrant County College campus.
He said the aide made insensitive remarks about which bathroom he should use and that part of the exchange was recorded on a cell phone.
The incident happened outside the district where the aide has no say as to which bathroom any student can use.
The aide also monitors the school bus that takes students to college prep classes at TCC.
Valdez said the aide is still working at the school. The district said it can’t elaborate on the issue further due to privacy laws.
