FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Fort Worth Transportation Authority will break ground Wednesday on a 27 mile commuter rail line to Dallas/Fort Worth International airport.
“Dallas Area Rapid Transit has been a model for us,” said Bill Meadows, chairman of the Commission for High-Speed Rail in Dallas-Fort Worth. “It’s the best example of a developed system. It’s the most extensive, longest light rail system in the United States today.”
The line will be called “TEX Rail,” and will run from downtown Fort Worth to DFW Airport. The “T” expects 8,000 daily riders when it opens in late 2018. By 2035, nearly 14,000 people are projected to ride the system each day.
