A Former Funeral Home Owner Pleads Guilty

A funeral home owner has apologized after abusing several corpses. It’s been nearly two years since the horrific event took place at the Johnson Family Mortuary in East Fort Worth. The Tarrant County courtroom was filled on Friday as Dondre Johnson pleaded guilty to nine cases of corpse abuse.

Authorities found several decomposing bodies inside Johnson’s funeral home in July of 2014, and several bodies were wrapped in sheets and mummified with body fluids everywhere.

Johnson’s attorney say Deondre’s new sentence will be served with his existing two-year sentence in a state jail, with credit for time served. Felicia Braxton, whose mother’s body was in the care of the mortuary owners, says “We don’t ever want another family to have to endure what we’re enduring.”
