DeSoto Honors Its Superbowl MVP

VON MILLERDESOTO – Saturday will be proclaimed Von Miller day by DeSoto’s Mayor Carl Sherman.  The Superbowl MVP was a standout athlete at DeSoto High School before attending college at Texas A&M. “We are very excited to welcome home our hometown MVP Von Miller,” DeSoto ISD Superintendent David Harris said. “We want to open up Eagle Stadium for the whole community to join us and celebrate Von’s accomplishments and thank him for the support he has given our students and the community.” Miller will be honored at a celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday April 16 at Eagle Stadium. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and free tickets will be distributed until the stadium reaches its 11,000-seat capacity. After that there is a private luncheon to raise money for Miller’s charity, which provides free eyeglasses to people who can’t afford them.  Von is also a contestant on this season’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
