Massive Flight Cancellations at North Texas Airports; High Wind and Fire Warnings in Effect

DALLAS — Hundreds of flights have been canceled or delayed at DFW Airport and Dallas Love Field Friday because of strong winds.

Strong wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph are in the forecast for North Texas Friday, bringing heightened fire risks and prompting a WFAA Weather Alert Day.

As of around noon Friday, hundreds of flights have already been canceled or delayed at North Texas’ two major airports amid heavy wind gusts.

DFW Airport is warning travelers to check their flights before heading to the airport Friday.

“High winds are moving through North Texas today and a High Wind Warning is in effect,” DFW Airport wrote in a post on social media. “Travelers should check with their airline for possible changes to their flight.”
