Julie grew up in Nebraska and started her Broadcasting career while attending Wayne State College. She headed to Texas in the mid-80’s and soon took on a position spinning records at KPUR Amarillo. In the late 80’s she headed to DFW where she heard her first Airborne Traffic report and knew immediately that was what she wanted to do. Julie became a local reporter and was heard on several DFW stations playing DJ and reporting traffic including right here on WBAP with the Great Hal Jay! In the early 90’s Julie was recruited to report traffic by WMIX Mix 106.5 Baltimore. In 1994 Julie’s traffic plane made an emergency landing on the Highway in the middle of rush hour. This led to a shift in her career. She spent the next couple of years as News Director and Anchor on WMIX.
In 1997 Julie headed back to DFW and immediately returned to the skies reporting traffic for several top stations including KVIL 103.7 where she also worked as an on-air talent playing music on the weekends. In 2007 Julie’s Traffic Copter made a crash landing and left her with a broken neck. She returned to the airwaves as News Director and Anchor on KVIL 103.7. Julie eventually returned to what she loves and is best at, reporting the traffic. With over 30 years of Traffic experience Julie is considered one of the best in the business and in the Dallas Fort Worth market.
When Julie isn’t helping commuters maneuver through the Highways and Byways of Dallas Fort Worth, she Hosts a show on Legends/Denver playing hits from the 60’s and 70’s. Julie also enjoys spending time with her Grandsons, Cooking, Traveling, and playing with her Chesapeake Bay Retriever Shotgun Willie.
