DALLAS — Dallas police are searching for a group of masked men who fired dozens of bullets into the home of a disabled woman, killing her. Evidence shows that the gunfire was intense, with numerous bullets piercing every room of the victim’s apartment.
Family members identify the woman as Alice Fisher, a disabled woman who lived alone. At the time of the shooting, Alice was on the phone with her sister when the barrage of bullets began. Her family believes the shooters may have been targeting a different apartment altogether.
What We Know:
The shooting took place Wednesday night, just after 9 p.m., at the Kingbridge Crossing apartments in West Dallas, a Dallas Housing Authority property. When police arrived, they found Alice Fisher dead inside her apartment, with the scene marked by multiple shell casings and heavy gunfire damage.
No arrests or suspects have been announced by Dallas police, and the investigation is ongoing.
What They’re Saying:
Velma Fisher, Alice’s niece, says the family is left in shock, unsure of who was responsible for the violence.
“She was disabled. She just came home from the hospital yesterday,” Velma explained. “She hadn’t even been home for more than four or five hours before this happened.”
Alice, who lived alone, was heavyset and physically impaired, making it difficult for her to move. Her family believes she was sitting in her recliner when the shooters stormed in and opened fire.
“My mother was on the phone with her when she screamed,” said Koquice Fisher, another niece. “It was too late by then.”
Alice was reportedly shot nine times, and gunshots were heard in every room of the apartment — from the bathroom to both bedrooms. FOX 4 captured footage showing numerous evidence markers at the scene.
“I just can’t understand how you think you’re safe in your own home and then something like this happens,” Koquice said, her voice filled with emotion. “Stop the senseless violence. This is an innocent person who didn’t deserve to be taken like this.”
Surveillance and Eyewitness Accounts:
Surveillance footage from the scene shows the suspects arriving at the apartment complex. Additional video — which has not been released publicly — captures the masked individuals approaching Alice’s apartment before gunshots ring out.
Neighbor Latoya Caldwell says she heard the shots and saw the suspects fleeing.
“I saw them running back to the car, and then they all jumped in,” she recalled. “They had ski masks on, so I couldn’t see their faces.”
Other neighbors, like Yulette McCuin and Roy Lee White, rushed to check on Alice after hearing the gunfire.
“We went down to her apartment. The door was wide open, and there were bullet casings scattered all over the place,” McCuin said. “It was heartbreaking. Over 50 or 60 shots. She was such a sweet person, and I pray they catch whoever did this.”
A Case of Mistaken Identity?
While Dallas police haven’t confirmed a motive, Alice’s family suspects the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity — with the wrong apartment being targeted.
“It was the wrong apartment, that’s what we’ve heard,” Velma said. “They were looking for someone else.”
“She didn’t deserve this,” Koquice added. “It was just the wrong door.”
The family wants the public to understand who Alice really was — a loving, kind woman with no known enemies.
“She was a good woman, a loving aunt, sister, mother, and friend,” Velma said.
“She had no enemies,” Koquice said. “She was just a good neighbor.”
What’s Next:
The investigation continues, and there are security cameras throughout the apartment complex, including one right outside Alice’s door.
