DALLAS – Winter weather continues to cause significant travel disruptions across North Texas, with flight cancellations and delays persisting at DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field.

Although conditions have improved since Thursday, the impact on air travel remains substantial. According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, over 400 flights to and from DFW Airport are canceled for Friday—accounting for 19% of the airport’s daily schedule. At Dallas Love Field, 96 flights, or 18% of its operations, have also been grounded.

Broader Impact on Air Travel
The winter storm has created ripple effects beyond Texas. Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport—also in the storm’s path—leads the nation in cancellations for Friday.

Thursday proved especially challenging, with more than 1,500 flights canceled at DFW and over 200 at Love Field. These widespread disruptions have stranded thousands of passengers and left many scrambling to adjust their travel plans.

What to Expect Next

  • Weather Outlook: Snow flurries are expected to taper off by early Friday morning. The skies should begin to clear around midday, with high temperatures climbing into the upper 30s by afternoon.
  • Travel Challenges: While conditions are improving, the lingering effects of the storm will likely disrupt air travel through Friday.

A Race Against Time for Cotton Bowl Fans
The timing of the storm poses an added challenge for travelers heading to North Texas for the Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Friday night. Despite the travel complications, organizers confirmed the game will proceed as scheduled. Fans may face a last-minute scramble to make it in time for kickoff.

For those affected, patience and flexibility remain essential as airlines work to recover from the storm’s impact.
