After a Last-Minute Appeal, the Texas Supreme Court Stopped the Execution of the Man in the Shaken Baby Case

(WBAP/KLIF) – HUNTSVILLE, TX – The Texas Supreme Court has stopped the execution of Robert Roberson who would have become the first person in the U-S put to death for a murder conviction tied to a diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome. Roberson was convicted of killing his 2-year-old daughter in 2002. On Thursday night, his supporters turned to the Texas high court, after both the U-S Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals rejected appeals to stop his lethal injection. Roberson’s supporters include a coalition of both Republicans and Democrats who say that he’s innocent and was convicted on faulty scientific evidence
