Fort Worth ISD Names Doctor Karen Molinar Interim Superintendent

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Fort Worth ISD’s school board appointed veteran administrator Karen Molinar as interim superintendent on Tuesday.

The move comes weeks after Doctor Angelica Ramsey resigned two years into the job amid backlash over student test scores that Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and business leaders called unacceptable.

Molinar has 27 years with the district serving as a teacher, principal and chief of elementary schools. She briefly served as interim superintendent in 2022 before Dr. Ramsey was hired.

At a Tuesday press conference, Molinar said she understands the key role relationships play in this position.

“It’s listening…it’s experience…it’s making sure that the students and parents are in constant communication and transparency of what we’re doing,” she said.

Although the district will be searching for a permanent superintendent, Molinar said she’d like to be considered for the job.

The district still has to pay Dr. Ramsey more than $900,000 to buy out her contract.
