Plano Pastor Removed From Position After Prostitution Sting Arrest

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A Plano church removed a pastor from his position after he was arrested in a prostitution sting this spring.

Authorities took 51-year-old Terren Dames into custody May 2 for allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer. According to an affidavit, dames agreed to pay the officer $150 for full service.

After Dames arrived at the scheduled meet up, he was recorded knocking on the motel’s door. He allegedly confirmed he was at the door in a text conversation with the undercover officer, the affidavit states.

Officers stopped him a few blocks away at the intersection of G Avenue and Central Parkway East. The affidavit states he went into a medical episode but was treated and released at the scene.

Dames was indicted on charges of solicitation of prostitution in June.

The arrest is the result of Plano Police Department’s ongoing efforts to combat prostitution and human trafficking.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship said they parted ways with Dames due to his “moral failure.” “NDCBF leadership remains devoted to the church’s mission of making disciples and vision to empower each member to impact the world by doing the work of Jesus Christ,” the statement reads.

Dames is the latest North Texas pastor to resign or be removed in connection to allegations of sexual misconduct.

In June, Southlake’s Gateway Church Pastor Robert Morris resigned after a woman came forward accusing him of molesting her when she was 12 in the 1980s.

Dallas’ Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church founding pastor Tony Evans also stepped down in June. He described his reasoning as due to a “past sin.”

Earlier this week, Cross Timbers Church announced lead pastor Josiah Anthony resigned after struggling with “emotional and mental health” and for “inappropriate actions.”

These instances are the most high profile of the church resignations across North Texas in recent months.
