LAKE WORTH, Texas — Police found two suspicious devices in Lake Worth and were in the process of detonating them Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Lake Worth police around 11:30 a.m. posted that officers were investigating a suspicious package in front of the Richie Brothers Auctioneers building, which is located near Azle Avenue and Northwest Loop 820 in Lake Worth.
Lake Worth is located just northwest of Fort Worth.
Police said they detained a suspect “involved in the placing of the suspicious package” and also shut down two lanes of Loop 820 while they investigated.
By 1:30 p.m., police officials confirmed to WFAA that they detonated the first suspicious package.
About an hour after the first package was found, a second suspicious device was located in the 3900 block of Boat Club Road in Lake Worth, police said.
Officers established a safe perimeter around the Boat Club Road location and closed the road from Jacksboro Highway to Azle Avenue. Police officials confirmed that officers were also working to detonate the second device.
