SEABROOK, TEXAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – A miraculous save – in the nick of time – by U.S. Coast Guard marine inspectors in Seabrook Texas January 23rd. “Connie the Container Dog” was trapped inside a sealed shipping container for at least 8 days; the container was filled with smashed cars and car parts and came from the Houston/Galveston area, according to U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Corrine Zilnicki with Coast Guard Public Affairs.
Zilnicki says it’s believed Connie may have been living in a junkyard or the remains of a vehicle in a junkyard and was accidentally scooped up and placed into a shipping container bound for Dubai. The container first arrived at Seabrook, where Coast Guard inspectors going through daily inspections heard scratching and barking. They broke open the sealed container to find a Golden Retriever, or Golden Retriver mix – dehydrated, malnourished, but still able to walk. The inspectors named her Connie, for Connie the Container Dog, and she was quickly taken to Pasadena Animal Control for medical evaluation.
A veterinarian aligned with the Washington D.C. area group “Forever Changed Animal Rescue” had Connie flown to the group February 6th and she will be placed for adoption for a loving, forever home.
