Toyota is issuing what appears to be an urgent recall, warning drivers of certain year and make Toyota vehicles to immediately stop driving them. The recall appears to concern Takata airbags again, and Jerry Reynolds of the Car Pro Show believes the nature and language of the recall may indicate someone has been killed in relation to the concern.
Toyota is recalling 2003-2004 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles, as well as 2004-2005 RAV-4 SUV’s. While neither the timing of the fix or the availability of the parts to get that done are yet known, Toyota is quite clear in alerting drivers they should not drive these vehicles until they are fixed.
Reynolds notes as people relocate and change addresses, it can be common for vehicle recall alerts and notices never to make it to the intended vehicle owner. He suggests vehicle owners get the auto’s VIN number, enter it in the government website https://www.nhtsa.gov/ to find all recalls affecting their vehicle.
While some vehicle recalls may not be as urgent as this one, or as compared to some others, Reynolds warns vehicle owners should get on their dealer’s call list for them all, as resale value can drop, especially with a dealer buying, as the car may sit for months until a fix is found, the parts are available, and the fix can be scheduled with others.
