(WBAP/KLIF) — FBI Director Christopher Wray met with local law enforcement officials at the FBI’s Dallas Office, Thursday. The purpose of the meeting was to better coordinate law enforcement efforts between local and federal officials. Director Wray spent about 20 minutes with reporters to discuss some of the latest data involving crime in both North Texas and across the country.
One of the key areas that the FBI Director highlighted was the increase in violent juvenile crime, such as shootings, assaults, and car jackings. Wray says while violent crime across DFW is down overall, there’s been a noticeable uptick in juvenile violence in DFW and nationally.
Wray held a roundtable with FBI Special Agent in Charge Chad Yarborough along with police chiefs and sheriff’s deputies throughout the Metroplex.
In addition, Wray said there’s been a significant rise in antisemitism, which is trending across the United States. The FBI Director also indicated that the Bureau is focusing on the Fentanyl crisis, as resources are deployed to combat cartels and international sources of the product.
