The U.S. House Selects Mike Johnson as Speaker

(WBAP/KLIF) — The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to appoint Louisiana Representative Mike Johnson as the next Speaker of the House.

The Republican Party finally united behind a candidate after California Representative Kevin McCarthy was removed, and both Louisiana’s Steve Scalise and Ohio’s Jim Jordan failed to garner enough votes.

Johnson won the GOP’s support late Tuesday night, after House Majority Leader Steve Scalise backed his fellow state representative.
