Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker is praising law enforcement in her State of the City address to business leaders Friday.

“Target announced it was closing nine stores in four major cities. New York, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco – all because theft, violence, and crime. Without the right balance in public safety, cities fall apart,” Parker said.

With various new hires scheduled throughout the coming years, Parker announced the Fort Worth Police Department will be full strength by 2026.

“In addition you’ll see 60 police officers across the city. That means 20 additional patrol officers to improve our response times, and four additional officers on our HOPE team to help tackle homelessness.”

Parker credited staffing with innovative programs along with new technology working together to help tackle problems within public safety.
