(WBAP/KLIF) — Tarrant County’s third largest employer may be poised to strike. United Auto Workers Local 276 hasn’t joined the strike against GM, Ford, and Stallantis just yet, however the over 5,000 workers at the Arlington plant are ready when called upon.
Local 276 President Keith Crowell says believes the auto makers owe union workers a raise, as many cannot afford the vehicles they make. The union is demanding a 40% wage increase to keep up with inflation, four-day work weeks, and the restoration of benefits like pensions for new hires.
Crowell says union members don’t want to strike, however they’ve prepared for the worst with a stockpile of picket signs. The current UAW strike includes around 13,000 employees in Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio.
Crowell confirms to WFAA that there’s no current plans to join the strike and hopes Detroit’s big three automakers will agree to concessions in a new contract.
