(WBAP/KLIF) — The Metroplex now has two new, level-two electric vehicle (EV) chargers available for free use.
Two electric vehicle charging stations are now available in the city of Mesquite. The city’s Jenni Gilmer says the EV charging sites are located at Mesquite City Hall and the Mesquite Municipal Center. A Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) grant made the purchase and installation of the three dual-port level II electric vehicle chargers possible, as well as free use through August of 2024. However in September of 20-24 a fee will be required to use the chargers.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the dual-port level II EV chargers can charge a vehicle up to 80 percent in 4 to 10 hours.
