DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Weather experts in North Texas say the scorching temperatures being felt in the region continue to prove historic.
According to the National Weather Service, DFW and Waco set new daily record highs on Friday. Both sites reached 110 degrees, which broke the previous records of 106° at DFW and 104° at Waco.
It was a busy Friday for first responders.
MedStar crews treated 25 patients on Friday for a primary heat-related illness, 23 were transported to area hospitals, 1 in critical condition.
“This ties the highest number of patients treated in 1 day since May 1st,” Medstar Director, Matt Zavadksy said. “One of the patients was a one-year-old in a moving vehicle without air conditioning.”
The patient was treated with active cooling and IV fluids and taken to Cook Children’s. According to MedStar, 4 of the patients were at high school football games, 1 player and 3 spectators.
