FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – The Excessive Heat that has its grasp on much of Texas and the nation’s Midwest has been extended at least another 24 hours through Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth extended the Excessive Heat Warning for much of North and Central Texas until 9:00pm Tuesday.
Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures as high as 109 degrees and heat indexes as high as 113 degrees in portions of the area are expected. Dallas/Fort Worth is expecting a high of 105.
DFW Airport reached a new record high temperature Monday at 106 degrees, shattering the previous record of 105 set in 1948.
Triple digit heat is expected through the upcoming weekend with a possible reduction in heat well into next week.
Stay indoors as much as possible and drink plenty of water.
