Allen Financial Advisor Who Killed Client Amid Investment Fraud Scheme Sentenced

Keith Ashley

COLLIN COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A former financial advisor in Allen was sentenced to life in prison this week in connection with an investment fraud scheme that left one of his clients who was also a friend dead.

51-year old Keith Todd Ashley was found guilty last October of wire, mail and bank fraud as well as firearms violations.

Carrollton Police Chief Robert Arredondo called Ashley a “cunning and cold-blooded killer” who stole his clients’ life savings and even killed to gain control of their finances.

Prosecutors said Ashley staged the 2020 murder of 62-year-old Jim Seegan of Carrollton to look like a suicide. Seegan had been shot in the head.

The scheme included transferring Seegan’s money into his personal accounts and changing the beneficiary of Seegan’s life insurance policy to a trust that Ashley controlled.

“Ashley is a con artist and menace to society who would stop at nothing to rob a man of his life to benefit his own. We are pleased the family has found justice,” said Chief Arredondo.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office may continue pursuing state murder charges.
