(WBAP/KLIF) — A man who led police on a dangerous high speed chase, Friday night, was shot dead by an officer.
Mesquite Police were chasing a man driving a Honda Pilot, who hit several vehicles and road signs before coming to a stop near the Mesquite Outdoor Rodeo Arena.
The suspect got out of the vehicle and ignored police commands when he reached back into the car and was shot by an officer. Mesquite officers performed life-saving measures on the man, however he later died at a local hospital.
Authorities recovered a firearm from the suspect’s vehicle. The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This is an on-going investigation with more details to be released by Mesquite Police at a later time.
