8th Officer-Involved Shooting Nearly Results in Death of Dallas Cop

(WBAP/KLIF) — The 8th officer-involved shooting of 2023 nearly resulted in the death of a Dallas Policeman.

Dallas Police Department released video footage of a shootout that resulted in an officer being shot. Veteran officer Nathaniel Chapman was working undercover while parked in an unmarked vehicle in the early morning hours on Wednesday, when he was carjacked by three armed suspects who pulled up in a dark sedan in Northwest Dallas. Police Chief Eddie Garcia says that Chapman backed away from the suspects and drew his gun before shooting erupted. The officer was hit in the left leg, while the suspects escaped uninjured with both vehicles, but later ditched the police car.

19-year-old Redricous Lewis, 17-year-old Redtravion Polk and 18-year-old Xavier Cook were all later arrested in Louisiana and face aggravated assault charges in Dallas. Chapman was treated and released from the hospital and is resting at home.
