Dallas To Pay $8.5 Million Damages For Ransomware Attack

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas City Council has approved the payment of $8.5 million in damages to the victims of a ransomware attack on the city’s computer network. The attackers got into the system more than three months ago. The city confirmed in mid-June that the attackers obtained access to the personal data of at least 27,000 people, most of them, but not all, city employees. In addition to the damages, the Dallas City Council also agreed the city will pay for credit monitoring for the victims.
