Major League Cricket’s Inaugural Season Debuts New Texas Stadium

(WBAP/KLIF) — The world of cricket has officially landed in the metroplex, as a new professional cricket stadium opened Tuesday.

Grand Prairie stadium will be home to one of six major league cricket teams in the U.S. the Texas Super Kings. one of the players is Cameron Stevenson from Australia who has played for the U.S. National team. He’s thrilled at the sport’s exposure in Texas.

The new 7,200 seat Grand Prairie Stadium will play host to 12 matches this season, which begins Thursday. Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen is excited for the world-wide attention.

The first cricket match will be played this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as the Super Kings host Los Angeles.
