AAA Texas Releases July 4th Travel Prediction

(WBAP/KLIF) — AAA Texas has released its travel projections for the 4th of July Holiday weekend. Nationally, nearly 51-million Americans will travel for Independence Day, breaking the previous record set in 2019 of 49-million travelers.

According to Daniel Armbruster with AAA Texas, approximately 3.8 million Texans are expected to venture 50 miles or more from home to celebrate the 4th of July, the most since 2019. 3.2 million will travel by car, while 392,000 plan to fly to their destinations this year, a jump of 12% from last year. Another 189,000 are expected to travel by bus, train, or a cruise.

Armbruster says the average 4th of July traveler should save about $20 to fill up their tank due to cheaper gas prices. DFW gas prices for the holiday are hovering around $3.29 a gallon, while the state average is $3.21 and the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded sits around $3.60 a gallon.
