Up to Softball Sized Hail Put a Whammy on Cars and Structures Across NTX

Dallas-Fort Worth (WBAP/LIF) – Very Large hail fell across parts of the metroplex Sunday as severe storms move through the area.

In Flower Mound late night several people were out checking out their cars; many were damaged, as were some homes as hail came crashing through windows.

WFAA’s William Joy talked with a man in Flower Mound who said that he had welts on his leg from hail that hit him as he went outdoors to cover his car.

Softball-sized hail was reported in Flower Mound. Three-inch hail was reported across southern Denton County. Two-to-three inch sized hail was seen in Royse City. Parts of Collin County was also affected.

In Mansfield, a tree fell on a vehicle on 1711 fm 157, near the Braum’s restaurant. Mansfield Fire Rescue was called to free entrapped passengers. No word on their conditions.

Meantime, insurance industry experts advise impacted residents to start getting your claim together now as processing times vary.

The storm left thousand of Oncor customers in the dark. Oncor says on its website that crews are currently working to assess damages and restore power to impacted communities.
