GM Invests Half a Billion Dollars into Arlington Plant

(WBAP/KLIF) — General Motors makes a half a billion dollar investment into North Texas. GM officials were joined by Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, and Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare to make a huge announcement about the future of the plant.

GM Vice-President Gerald Johnson announced the company was investing $500-million into its Arlington manufacturing plant to continue building their popular line of SUV’s into the next decade. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross says GM’s investment over the last number of years brings the company’s total commitment to about $2-billion. United Auto Workers Union members applauded the news at Thursday’s announcement. The more than 5,400 employees at the Arlington plant applauded the news of the investment into the manufacturing of vehicles into the 2030’s.

The half a billion dollars will ensure the plant will continue to manufacture the Suburban, Escalade, Yukon, and Tahoe into the next decade.
