(WBAP/KLIF) — A bomb threat evacuates a major DFW venue.
Two calls came into the Fort Worth Convention Center, warning of a bomb planted at the facility. Building security staff began evacuating people and called first responders. Fort Worth Fire Department’s Craig Trojacek says the bomb threat came in close to noon on Wednesday.
Fort Worth police and fire department officials scoured the building for explosives with bomb sniffing dogs and cleared both the convention center and nearby Omni Hotel, finding no trace of explosive devices. According to Trojacek, the threat turned out to be a hoax.
Fort Worth Police are now investigating who made the bomb threat call and why.
