Rhome Police Looking Witnesses, Suspect in Fatal Crash that Killed a Motorcyclist

The suspect vehicle is a Ford 4-door pickup hauling a black trailer.

Rhome, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Rhome Police Department is looking for witnesses and a person of interest in connection to a deadly incident on US Highway 287 last Friday. The accident happened around 7:15am between Pioneer Parkway and Highway 114.

Police say the victim was 55-year-old Jerry Wayne Newton of Decatur who was on a motorcycle when he was forced off the road by the driver of a pickup truck hauling a black trailer.

The suspect vehicle is a Ford four-door F259 or F350. police say it has an aftermarket front bumper, a hood scoop with marker lights beneath the hood line and dark grey or black wheels.

Police said the trailer has mismatched wheels — two are white and the other two are grey. The trailer was carrying what appears to be a black and white asphalt roller or similar equipment with a high bar behind the seat.
