Richland Hills (WBAP/KLIF) – A tragic New Year’s Day stabbing claimed the life of an 8-year old boy and police in Richland Hills have arrested the boy’s grandfather in connection with the child’s death.
Police say it happened around 8am Sunday at a home on Labadie Drive, west of I-820. 65-year old Phillip Hughes was found near the home. Hs has been detained on a capital murder charges.
According to a press release, the boy lived in the home with his grandfather and other relative. There’s no word on what led to the stabbing.
The Richland Hills Police Department would like to express its condolences to those affected by this senseless tragedy and ask for continued prayers for everyone involved.
This is still an ongoing active investigation, however, based on the initial investigation it is believed that no other suspects are involved.
