Southwest Airlines Pilots Demonstrate Outside Love Field

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – More than 1,200 Southwest Airlines pilots demonstrated outside Love Field Airport on Tuesday.

The pilots, dressed in uniform, stood in solidarity demanding more efficient scheduling and operations at Southwest Airlines.

“We’re tired of deadheading around the system,” said Mike Santoro with the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association. “That means we’re sitting in the back of the airplane not being productive. We’re just moving around the country to lead another airplane somewhere else.”

Santoro said pilots have proposals to make schedules more efficient. SWAPA is in contract negations that airline executives listen and implement the ideas.

The demonstration came as pilot shortages continues to grow nationwide.
