OVERNIGHT: Home Explosion Near White Rock Lake; Status of Occupants Unknown

UPDATE: 6:17AM 3/11/22

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – An explosion and subsequent fire at a home near White Rock Lake in Dallas overnight caused significant damage to a home on San Leandro Drive near Lakeland Drive.

Dallas Fire Rescue spokesperson Jason Evans says the home suffered a partial roof collapse and that people are known to be living there, but it is not known whether anyone was there when the fire occurred. Due to the structural instability of the home, firefighters and investigators waited until daybreak “to help optimize their search and investigative efforts.”

Evans says there a neighboring house suffered exterior fire damage, and that an elderly woman inside was not injured.

According to Fire Investigators, a neighbor who called 911 stated that they heard a “loud bang” before they looked outside and noticed the house across the street on fire.

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – There is no word on the status of two men who live in a house that exploded and caught fire overnight near White Rock Lake on San Leandro Drive.

Photo-journalist Mike Forbes from our media partner WFAA’TV says, according to the Dallas Fire Rescue chief, two men are known to live in the house but crews were not able to get inside because the roof of the home was near collapse and conditions were too hot to go in. They will try to get inside the extensively damaged home later this morning.

A house next door was also damaged by fire.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
