Dallas-Native Rock Star Meat Loaf Dies at 74

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The music world has another legend.

Dallas-born rock superstar Meat Loaf has died at the age of 74.

The cause of death for the singer, born Marvin Lee Aday, was not revealed by the family but TMZ reports Meat Loaf was seriously ill with COVID-19 before he died.

The singer sold more than 80 million records and was known for numerous hits such as “Bat Out of Hell”, “Paradise By the Dashboard Light”, “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” and “I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That).”

Meat Loaf also found success in Hollywood with parts in films “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Fight Club.”

His family issued a heartfelt statement on his Facebook page that said in part:

“Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight. We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man…From his hear to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!”

The Texas native attended Lubbock Christian College and what is now the University of North Texas. He left for Los Angeles after college and was soon the lead singer in Meat Loaf Soul.

Meat Loaf is survived by his wife Deborah Gillespie and daughters Pearl and Amanda Aday.

Fans took to social media to voice their sadness and appreciation for the music legend.
