SAN ANTONIO (WBAP/KLIF News) – An elite FBI dive team has joined the search for 3-year-old Lina Sadar Khil, who vanished from a playground at her family’s apartment complex two weeks ago.
Crews searched a waterway near the complex all day Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters the 12-member team is acting on a lead.
“I wish I could be more uplifting. I know this looks like we’re really on to something but all we’re doing here is following up on leads. We don’t want to leave anything to chance. So, everything that we get that has any kind of potential at we follow it up,” he said.
An AMBER Alert was issued for Lina late on the evening of December 20 within hours of her disappearance.
Chief McManus said tips on the case are scarce but investigators are working through all options.
“In the beginning there was a flurry of activity that everybody could witness between police and FBI in an effort to find Lina. You don’t see that flurry anymore but it’s going on behind the scenes,” he said.
Reward money for information leading to Lina’s discovery stands at $150,000.
