EULESS (WBAP/KLIF)- Euless Police say the family of fallen officer Alex Cervantes, who was killed by a suspected drunk driver while with his family, continues to improve from their injuries.
Lieutenant Brenda Alvarado with Euless PD said his two sons ages 10 and 11 are out of the hospital and his wife’s condition has been updated to stable.
“She’s still sedated and has not been able to communicate with her family at this point. I am not able to speak to her injuries or her treatment but we are hopeful she will be able to communicate with us soon,” said Alvarado.
There has been no decisions made regarding memorial services at this time, police say both families have agreed to not make any of those decisions until she can communicate her wishes to them.
“Alex, his wife and his kids have been integrated in the Euless Police Department family and our community. He served on our honor guard for many years, played a big role in honoring other families who lost officers. He’s just a really special person, a great officer, very compassionate, really cared about his job and his fellow workers. Everyone who met him would say he made you feel special,” said Alvarado.
A donation fund has been set up to help the family during this time- all proceeds will go directly to the family.
