Dallas County Reopens Fair Park Vaccination Site to Long Lines

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination site at Dallas’ Fair Park administered hundreds of shots on its first day back in business.

Dallas County Medical Director, Dr. Phil Huang said on Monday that more than 500 COVID shots and nearly 200 flu shots were given to eligible adults and children on Sunday afternoon.

“That’s actually probably a little more than we were expecting,” said Dr. Huang. “The number for vaccinations have been down recently. CDC just expanded eligibility for COVID booster shots, which led to the high demand.”

Some patients waited for several hours on Sunday before they received their shots. COVID vaccines and flu shots were available for all eligible adults and children.

“We are going to increase the staffing because we want to avoid wait times,” said Dr. Huang. “But the response was very good.”

The Fair Park site will open on Sundays only.
