Denton County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Hundreds of thousands of Denton County Public Health records that included COVID-19 vaccination details, were exposed as the result of a data breach.
Early estimates put the breach at about 1.2-million, but Denton county last night said that many of the files were duplicates.
A problem with third-party software exposed contact and identifying information. Lletters were sent to those affected.
The breach was discovered in july and caused vaccine clinics to stop using the app while the problem was fixed. It’s now back in use.
The county said it was not aware of any situations where the information was “misused,” but anyone whose information was affected should watch for fraud.
