Independent Investigation Finds No Evidence of Ticket-Writing Quota at Richardson Police Department

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF News) – A recently released independent investigation found no evidence of a ticket-writing quota at the Richardson Police Department.

The department came under suspicion after a police officer made the allegations  at a City Council meeting in April.

The report, prepared by Fort Worth attorneys Wayne Olson and Cara White, showed that although the department used “statistics to determine patrol officer productivity” that didn’t amount to an illegal quota.

Some officers also alleged that they were forced into some type of competition to write the most tickets or faced punishment if they did not reach a certain number.

Investigators said the evidence disputes the allegation and found no evidence of “any disciplinary actions taken against patrol officers who fail to issue a predetermined number of tickets.”

Olson and White work for the law firm hired by the City of Richardson to look into the allegations.
