DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Former State Senator, and North Texas native, Don Huffines spoke publicly on Tuesday for the first time since announcing he will challenge incumbent Governor, Greg Abbott, in next year’s election.
Huffines told WBAP’s Chris Salcedo Show that he’s running for Governor because he’s tired of Texans being lied to.
“We’re tired of the broken and empty promises,” Huffines told Salcedo. “I mean just look, is our border secure? Do we have confidence in our elections? Are our property taxes going down? The answers are no, no, no.”
According to Huffines, his top priorities are eliminating property taxes, election integrity, and the southern border.
“Our plan to finish the wall and secure that border in one day is resonating so well,” said Huffines. “I am going to enforce the law so everyone knows their vote is not being stolen. And finally, we’re going to put property tax on a path to eliminate it.”
Huffines is a North Texas businessman who served one term in the state Senate before losing his seat in 2018.
